Ancestral History, 2021

Helllooooo!

I realized I forgot to blog about my latest sculpture!
I made this one for the group show “Small Works” at Beinart gallery in Melbourne.

Beinart gallery is the gallery I will be doing a solo show next year with. Suffice to say that they’re super lovely and talented artists AND gallery owners and it’s always a joy to work with them. Their line-up is always so great and I’m always so happy to be part of their shows.

These days I work a lot on books, it’s a theme I am exploring. I use the book as a symbol of knowledge and cover it in a representation of natural habitats. At the core it’s questioning our own (in)ability to act on the knowledge we have.
I realize that rings true for a lot of scientific discoveries. We understand the core principles of many things but we’re actually unable to properly reproduce them.

Here I decided to go for a jellyfish and coral reef. You can actually see me sculpt this one on my YouTube channel if you are curious.

This sculpture has already sold, but you can find other of my available sculptures through my shop (I also link to galleries I work with! In order not to miss any new sculptures, best to subscribe to my newsletter, I always send out an e-mail when new works are available.

Or get a print of it from my Redbubble shop :)

xx
