Korea Art Residency

I have been traveling to South Korea for a 2 months residency and came back inspired more than ever.

I started off being sick for a good 2 weeks before being diagnosed with bacterial tonsilitis and getting some antibiotics, but after that rough start, the trip was amazing.
I stayed a little over a month in Busan, where the art residency '“Naughty Muse Studios” is.

I really loved Busan, it is the second city of South Korea, a very long city that stretches between mountains and ocean.
Incredibly tall buildings and high density make this city very impressive and somewhat dystopian.

You can go hike all the time (which I most certianly did!) and catch the most breath taking views of the city.

I really wanted to paint while being at the art residency, so I split my time in two, half spent at the studio paintings with oils, half outside drawing and painting with watercolors.
For one, I let go of all pre judgement and painted whatever I wanted, it was liberating but also really formative.
I also did settle on very small canvases that I had prepared before leaving, which made each painting relatively fast to finish.

I also made a fun limited edition foldable art zine of these paintings that you can find in my art shop.
The colors really pop on that zine, which I’m really happy about, as the originals are very vibrant as well.

I also kept a sketchbook, here a few paintings that I scanned, I transformed two of these into art prints, which you can find in the shop as well.

For a more narrative showcase of these paintings, and to see more of my sketchbooks I invite you to watch my recent youtube video that goes more into depths of all of these.
