"Reverse Fishing" is about the issue of overfishing.
I drew a bottom trawler in the midst of a fish shoal.
Bottom trawlers let a huge fishing net hang from the boat down to the ocean bottom, sweeping everything that they encounter. Most that is gathered is just killed and thrown away. Arguably one of the worst fishing method, killing many beings and destroying habitat.
Also, fishing nets are made out of plastic and they make up about 50% of the plastic pollution found in the oceans. They're also killing animals that get entangled in them.
This painting is part of a small series made for Pangeaseed about threats to marine life.
